Here’s personal experience travelled in Gannan Grassland. It will be nice to offer you any suggestions if you are also planning to have fun there.
Less than three hours driving from Lanzhou to the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Hezuo City. local friends invited us and helped with the trip. And we went to Sangke grassland for camping.
Barbecue is the soul of outdoor meals. Although the ingredients are simple but very fresh, the beef tenderloin is soft and juicy. After the roast, the yak sour grandma recommended by friends tasts strongly. As the skin is a thick layer of grease, nothing to be added, just eat empty mouth, or with a little honey or white sugar, it is even more delicious! It’s more like Gansu people’s local Greek yogurt. Take back to plan to do some dry yogurt bowl ~
There are many grasslands here in Gannan, the weather is sunny for a while and a little rain for a while, it is very comfortable, so camping is very suitable, many local people will go to "Langshan" on weekends, which is what we call camping.
Also we went to Taizi mountain simmering mulberry. Simmering mulberry is also an ancient religious prayer custom in Tibetan culture, the cypress leaves, highland barley, tsampa, sugar and so on to simmering platform, through the burning smoke ️ to express their inner expectations and prayers to the gods. It rained lightly on the way there️, and the Taizi Mountain was shrouded in smoke, which gave the religious ceremony another mysterious and sacred atmosphere.
We still ate the Tibetan meal that we experienced every time when we came to the same shop, Zongba Yongmu, ordering milk tea every time, and then Tibetan rice (It is butter and beef grains, vermille fried together, and then bibimbap to eat together) and mushroom inside stuffed zanba a dish. You could give a try.
