Visiting Lanzhou multiple times, I've repeatedly sensed the unique charm of this city on the edge of the desert at night, allowing you to find some distinct regional elements in its magic. The night market is quite famous for its nocturnal splendor in Lanzhou. Especially the Zhengning Road Night Market, as a renowned street for local snacks, attracts numerous tourists daily to appreciate, taste, and understand the local specialties of Lanzhou!

Zhengning Road Night Market

·         Sweet Fermented Coarse Rice Made by steaming buckwheat and then fermenting it with wine yeast, it has a sweet and sour taste and is effective in relieving summer heat. It can be served as a summer beverage or a delicious snack.

·         Sheep Offal A mixture of sheep's head and hoof meat, heart, liver, lung, intestines, etc., stewed together without any fishy or gamey smell. The meat from the sheep's head is tender, the sheep's tripe is crispy, and the sheep's stomach strips are crunchy on the outside and tender inside. A bowl of sheep offal with clear original broth, sprinkled with garlic scallions, a bit of chili, paired with Lanzhou pancakes, makes for a delicious meal.

·         Rice Wine Boil in milk, add beaten egg flower, and sprinkle with raisins, goji berries, peanuts, white sugar, etc. The finished product is a beautiful combination of yellow and white, with the aroma of milk and rice wine that is truly intoxicating.

·         Hot Winter Fruit In Lanzhou, the local climate is dry, and hot winter fruit is an excellent choice for cooling down in winter.

·         Ma San Potato Chips featured on "A Bite of China", the double-plate of potato chips and tofu skin is a must-have signature dish.

·         Lanzhou Grey Bean Paste A unique dessert snack in Lanzhou. It is a porridge made from local "pang huai" (alkali grass), mung beans, red dates, and white sugar. It can be enjoyed all year round, both in winter and summer, for breakfast or dinner, and is suitable for all ages.

·         Milk, Egg, and Rice Wine Porridge  The milk, egg, and rice wine porridge by Master Ma is the most famous. To have a serving of Master Ma's milk, egg, and rice wine porridge, you need to wait in a very long line.

Lanzhou's cuisine is not only a taste experience but also a cultural exploration. Whether you are a local or a traveler, the rich and diverse food in Lanzhou will surely leave you with unforgettable memories. So, come and embark on this gourmet journey in Lanzhou, and let your taste buds dance with joy!
